When you start the day, your mood sets the tone for either a successful day or a challenging one. Let’s be honest, nobody wants to kick off a new day, week, or month feeling overwhelmed or defeated!
Instead, we want to start it feeling unstoppable, energetic and ready for whatever life throws our way! So we need to work on the one thing that affects how we show up in our day to day life: OUR MOOD! Below I’ve gathered a ton of useful tips you can start implementing right now, so that you can feel better, do better and be better!
Cultivate a Positive Morning Routine
First things first, you should start with practicing gratitude. This simple act of beginning your day by acknowledging things you are grateful for is the best way to level up your mood! Because how can you be in a bad mood if you have so many things around you that you can be grateful for?! IT’S IMPOSSIBLE!
Well, not impossible, but you are less likely to feel down in the dumps if you take a look around and realize that not everyone has what you have. There are people out there DREAMING of your salary, your health, your neighborhood, your clean water to drink, your beauty, your family, your friends and so much more! So when you take note of all the good and positive things you do have, your mood should start to change!
You can also start your day with a Mindful Morning Exercise! Try choosing an exercise you enjoy, like yoga, jogging, or a quick workout. Because the simple act of doing a physical activity that you enjoy releases endorphins, which in return boosts your mood and energy levels!
Now, if you aren’t much of an “exercise as soon as you wake up” type of person, but you are the type of person who enjoys a good breakfast… Then maybe you can try a mindful breakfast!
Sometimes it’s easy to get distracted when we are sitting down to eat because we are either on our phones or getting distracted by our thoughts, but try to catch yourself! Instead of letting your mind wonder, notice how you are breathing, the taste of the food, the texture of the food and be present.
Be grateful for the fact that you have food in the first place!
Remember: not everyone woke up this morning and got to eat something… So try focusing on all the good things in your life in order to start changing that mood!
Positive Affirmations
Initially, when you start doing affirmations you are going to feel downright silly – and that’s okay!
Just know that your body hears what you tell it! If you start telling yourself wonderful positive things, you are going to start feeling happier! But if you start telling yourself awful things, it will start to affect your mood. So when you start doing your affirmations, here are 3 things I want you to keep in mind:
1. Repeat Out Loud with Conviction – Stand in front of a mirror and speak your affirmations out loud with confidence and conviction. Engage with the words as you say them, allowing their positive energy to resonate within you.
2. Have a Positive Affirmation Ritual – Try creating a list of positive affirmations that you can read out loud to yourself and repeat those affirmations daily, especially during challenging moments. And remember: affirmations help rewire your thinking patterns for positivity, so recite them often!
3. Incorporate Visualization – As you recite affirmations, visualize the positive outcomes associated with each statement. Picture yourself achieving your goals and embodying the affirmations in your daily life. This one here is the secret sauce!
Foster Meaningful Connections & Set Empowering Goals
Two key factors remain that can absolutely elevate your mood!
Firstly, surround yourself with the right people: individuals who inspire and encourage you! Secondly, set empowering goals that propel you forward!
Now what do these two things have in common? TONS OF POSITIVE ENERGY! And energy is incredibly powerful, which is exactly what you need in order to uplift your mood. So here’s how I recommend you go about it:
Quality Social Interactions
Spend time with people who uplift and inspire you and avoid people who drain you! In that same process, cultivate deep connections with friends and family, so that you can feel like you have more sense of purpose and belonging.Having these meaningful social interactions contribute to a positive support system which leads to feeling better, which also leads to what? Uplifting your mood!
Set Achievable Goals
Define short-term and long-term goals that align with your values. By breaking them down from larger goals into actionable steps, you are going to feel more motivated to chase your dreams which will lead to feeling more uplifted and having a better mood overall.
Continuous Learning and Growth
Never stop learning! Always try to engage in continuous learning to stimulate your mind, attend workshops, read books, or take online courses in areas that interest you. By simply taking more time out of your day to learn more, you are going to start feeling more empowered and better about yourself and this is sure to change your mood around.
By incorporating these tips into your daily life, you can enhance your mood, build resilience, and set the stage for positive transformations which all lead to leveling up your mood!
