If you’re reading this, then you’re probably a new entrepreneur or are wanting to becoming one, so CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME TO THE CHAOS LOL!!!
Starting your own business can be both exciting and daunting, but rest assured, you’re not alone on this journey. Whether you’re venturing into the world of digital products or exploring other avenues of making money online, there are tons of things you are going to learn and stumble upon as a new business owner!
Here are some of my best tips to help you navigate the path ahead!
1. Define Your Vision and Goals
Before diving headfirst into your new business, the first thing you’ll want to do is to figure out what is your ultimate goal with having this business?
Why is this important? Because how do you create products, sales pages, email marketing, content, social media posts, or ads without knowing the end result that you are looking for…. you can’t! Rather you shouldn’t! It’s like throwing pasta at the wall and trying to see what sticks…. needless to say IT BECOMES MESSY REALLY QUICK!!!
So what do you do instead?
Well, before creating anything, I suggest writing down your vision and goals for your business. If you can, be as specific as you possibly can. This will help you have more clarity.
Now once you’ve written down some goals, I want you to take the time to clarify your vision and establish clear, actionable steps that you can take to actually make those goals come true!
Something to keep in mind is the more steps you can write down, the more clarity you will have.
You can ask yourself the following questions like:
– What problem am I solving?
– Who is my target audience?
– What steps would I need to take in order for me to accomplish my goal?
– Is my time frame to accomplish this goal realistic?
– How much time do I have to dedicate to this new goal?
Asking yourself these questions and getting clear on your goal will guide your actions and keep you focused throughout the inevitable challenges that you’ll face when you are starting your business.
2. Keep Learning
I am a strong believer that once you become an entrepreneur you also become a FOREVER STUDENT!
Now why do I say that? Well, it’s because you NEVER STOP LEARNING!
Things are going to happen so quickly in your business, and you are going to need to adjust your strategies or try new things when something isn’t working and that requires you to:
– STOP
– LEARN
– IMPLEMENT!
Once you do, you’ll probably have something else come up where you’re going to have to STOP, LEARN & IMPLEMENT all over again (true story lol), so I don’t want you to feel discouraged or annoyed when you have to learn something new, just know that your entrepreneurial journey is going to be a constant learning experience moving forward and you’ll learn a lot of things along the way!
3. Prioritize Your Mental Health
Building a business requires tons of hard work and lots of dedication, but without taking care of your mental health, you won’t have the mental energy or the physical health to show up for your business!
So my recommendation, above all the other recommendations in this blog post, is to always make time for YOURSELF! Whether that be going for a walk, meditating in the mornings, listening to your favorite music, taking time to disconnect and read, or simply just setting aside time to have a moment of silence, this is VITAL to keep yourself healthy, and if you can do this, then you’ll have the energy to show up for your business!
Now I should mention that this advice is not only for when sh*t is hitting the fan and you feel like the stress in your life is caving in and there is no way out of the mess you’re in! When I say take care of your mental health and make sure you have enough “me time” I say this because I don’t want you to get to the “I’m Throwing In The Towel” or “I Quit” phase!
Instead, I want you to learn how to take care of your mental health at all times, so that you can avoid feeling like you’ve lost control and so that you can keep your nervous and immune system in check!
4. Build a Strong Support Network
Ever heard the saying: “You are who you surround yourself with”? It’s kind of like the famous saying “You are what you eat!”, which is also just as true!
Because let’s face it, if you surround yourself with lazy people, who have ZERO ambitions, who don’t really take care of themselves and are constantly negative, do you think you’ll be positive, motivated & healthy?!
OF COURSE NOT!
You’ll probably pick up their bad habits and self-sabotage your routine and your habits because the people around you are influencing the decisions that you are making!
So instead of surrounding yourself with people who aren’t really heaading in any direction, I want you to focus on surrounding yourself with like-minded people who share your entrepreneurial spirit! Join online communities, attend networking events, and cultivate relationships with mentors and peers who can offer guidance, support, and encouragement throughout your journey.
By simply doing this, you are going to be influencing your environment FOR THE GOOD! Which is what you want, because your environment affects you, and it shapes who you are and who you become! So choose wisely!
5. Embrace Failure as Lessons Learned
Failure is inevitable on the path to success.
Instead of viewing setbacks as roadblocks, you’ll need to see them as valuable learning opportunities because the truth is that with every failure that you face, there are lessons that you’ll need to learn in order to continue growing.
My best piece of advice, is to be willing to pivot and adapt your strategies based on your analytics, as well as customer feedback and market trends. If you can do this, you’ll see a difference in not only your business, but also in yourself because there is a lot of growth that happens when you fail.
So embrace failure and let it help you establish a growth mindset & stepping stones toward future achievements!
6. Celebrate Your Wins, Big and Small
As entrepreneurs, we are always jumping into the next project, next task, next meeting or next idea without ever stopping to acknowledge all the hard work we’ve done and how far we’ve come.
So take this post as a gentle nudge to: NOT FORGET TO CELEBRATE ALL THAT YOU DO!
- If you had a small accomplishment, celebrate!
- If you sent that email that took you forever to write, celebrate!
- If you finally posted that Instagram Reel, celebrate!
- You hired someone, celebrate!
- You got 10 more followers, celebrate!
- You made your first $1,000 online, CELEBRATE!!
The reason being is that most actions require a reward if you want them to become habitual! In order to do that, you need to start giving yourself small celebrations or mini-wins, so that you’ll want to forge on and continue putting in the work. Because the truth is: if it’s boring, and you never see a reward for all of your hard work, you’re just going to want to quit and give up.
Instead, we are going to avoid getting that feeling all together and we are going to give ourselves some TLC, and lot’s of SELF LOVE and we’re going to ROOT FOR OURSELVES and CELEBRATE OUR WINS and that’ll help us to keep showing up!
Also, celebrating wins will boost your confidence as an entrepreneur, and will fuel your motivation for whatever project you are going to be working on next, so no matter how small or big your accomplishment is, Celebrate Yourself and then continue showing up 🙂 !
And there you have it my entrepreneurial besties!
